The PM was briefed about the situation on the LoC and the International Border as well as the hinterland, reports said. Situation has been tense at India-Pakistan border since the September 18 attack at an army camp in Uri town of Jammu and Kashmir which left 19 soldiers dead. India blamed suspected militants of Jaish-e-Mohammad. The relations between the two neighbouring nations further deteriorated after the Indian Army on September 28 night “carried out surgical strikes to destroy militant launch pads” across the Line of Control in Pakistan-administered Kashmir. Indian and Pakistan has intensified cross-LoC firing and shelling since the “surgical strikes”.
